(June 2) One of you asked if you need to bring your computer to Delaware. I replied:
I think bringing your PC is a personal choice. There are pros and cons. You will not need it for your work during the business day---we will be in a room where everyone has a desktop PC and where each 2-people share a Bloomberg account.
You might want your PC to do things at night. We will not require it, but it could be more convenient. On the other hand, it has weight and could get lost or broken. I would bring my computer, but then I really like computers!
(May 27) We have recently purchased your traveller backup health insurance. We have sent the info to ISCTE management. I think you will be hearing from them soon for your insurance information. Please let me know at UDISCTEProgram@gmail. com if you do not hear about yours.
(May 27) Remember, if you have any questions, the email address is UDISCTEProgram@gmail. com. No hyphens. The website is ud-iscte-program.com. With hyphens. Life if complicated...
(May 24) We have now posted the detailed schedule of the day-to-day and hour by hour activities. Click on the link above that says "Program Overview and Schedule." It is tentative---there may be some changes, but I don't expect many changes.
(May 11) For everything about Professor Campbell's Zoom sessions in the spring, see the Canvas site for that course. From now on, this webpage will be all about the summer in-person program from here on. Also, this site will soon be locked to allow users from only the ISCTE addresses I have for you. If you have any trouble with that, send email to UDISCTEProgram@gmail.com. That is your go-to administrative address.
(May 10) You'll want to go to New York or Washington on the weekend. I just saw the Flix Bus arrive at the Newark, Delaware train station. That's one way. Also check out Amtrak train and Greyhoud Bus. Not all go from Newark Delaware---some go from Wilmington Delaware. You will need an Uber. Prices can be pretty cheap if you book early, or crazy expensive if you book last minute. (Added lateer: Amtrak has sales sometimes, which are usually poorly advertised. Watch the deals section of their website. There is a "Night Owl" sale running, for example, that has cheaper tickets on the Northeast Regional Line---Boston-NYC-Philly-Wilmington-DC---running at late hours.)
(May 5) For Professor Campbell's sessions, we have purchase a Harvard Case for you--of which he is the author. Please use this link to register and get your copy of the case: https://hbsp.harvard.edu/import/1290535. He will tell you more about how to use this when you are in the Zoom session with him.
(May 5) Professor Terry Campell will begin his Zoom sessions on Banking and Governance on Wednesday. These sessions will take place every Wednesday at 6pm Lisbon time, for 3 hours. The Zoom info is: Meeting Room 990 1384 4480, Invite Link https://udel.zoom.us/j/99013844480
(2 May) Here is a copy of an email I just sent to the email addresses of all students who I believe are coming to the US in June.
(2 May) I believe you have already been informed by ISCTE administration about a Zoom meeting to introduce/preview our upcoming Program. It will take place on Monday May 5 at 18h00 Lisbon time (1pm US time). It should last 1 hour. We are planning to use the same Zoom address that you were given for the originally-shceduled meeting before the power outage. It is https://udel.zoom.us/j/94007489137 (Meeting ID 940 0748 9137).
If there is any difficulty with Zoom address in the moment, look immediately to this webpage for more info. (It is a University of Delaware Zoom client address that you have not accessed before, for a meeting that was originally set up for last week. You have had lots of electronic disruptions lately, including Zoom being down. Everything should be ok, but good to be prepared.)
(25 April) Watch this page! Check here frequently for program announcements. Especially when the program is running, you will find new developments, changes, and key new information here, in the Announcements. Check frequently! This is a key communications portal for our program! Check it every week in April and May, check it every couple days in June before the program, and check it all the time during the program!
(25 April) Video Newark. Here is a video I recorded in May 2024 to give you a sense for what Newark Delaware looks like. This is about Main Street and the north edge of UD's campus, places you will be a lot. If you like these, you can leave comments on the video (its a YouTube channel). That will encourage me to make more---and I may be able to repond to the comments also if YouTube allows.
(25 April) We have history. News article about the 2024 Program (last year)
(25 April) Your hotel and what's in it. Here is a video 360-degree tour of our hotel, including a view of the rooms we will be using. We have the 2-queen-bed rooms with a pull-out sofa-bed. See the Program Overview (link above) for more on the hotel, and see the Key Contacts (link above) for address info.
